Branching Out events

Artist Jo Mayes has received her funding for the Loop the Loop BRANCHING OUT project. The project is working with the railways and the libraries, celebrating our Community Heritage, Trains Day/World Book Night (also International Day of the Book), linking Bodmin to Liskeard and Liskeard to Looe.

Please join us:
Saturday April 23rd 10am – 4pm
Join Lois Taylor to go onto the platform/trains/into Liskeard library and invite passengers to write a post card ( she will provide the cards ) and hand it in to us. These postcards can then be a creative resource of Vital Sparkers for creative writing, art work, music etc.

You may also want to:
Be an artist at the station, sketching, drawing either recording what you see for your own development or to share in the moment with other passengers.
Be a poet on the station – capturing responses to what you see and hear.

To get ideas going and a feel for the project there is an invitation to join us for a guided walk around the Minions area – a gentle ramble full of history and fascinating facts on Monday 11th April at 11.15am.

Caradon Heritage Partnership – Schools and Organisation Loans Boxes

The Caradon Hill Area Heritage Project was established in 2009 and, funded for 4 years by the Heritage Lottery Fund and other local funders. One aspect of the project was the work it did with local schools and communities to encourage both children and adults to appreciate, find out about, use and conserve the abundant natural and historical resources in their local area.

Many local schools and groups visited natural and historical sites in their locality and learnt about the natural and historical environment of Bodmin Moor through observing, listening and acting out the lives and occupations of those who shaped and continue to manage the moor today. It became evident after the close of the project that this work should be continued in some way in order to inform and educate in the future

As a legacy of the project the Caradon Heritage Partnership have sourced and developed 7 loans boxes for schools and organisations to use to support learning about the local history and environment of the Caradon Hill area from the Mesolithic to World War II.  These are now available to borrow from Liskeard Museum.

The Caradon Heritage Partnership hope that these boxes will provide a useful resource for continuing the education of local children and adults about their rich historical and environmental heritage, and are able to send someone in to talk to your school or organisation about the contents of the boxes and how then can be used to support this.

The walk will take in Ladye Park, Moorswater, Coombe etc. and was an area Bo was particularly interested in. There will be some very steep ups and downs and it will be muddy, so good walking footwear and suitable clothing are a must.  There will also be an unique opportunity for you to have a light lunch (needs to be booked in advance) back in Stuart House after the walk.

If you wish to come on the walk, but avoid the trek down and back, please meet us under the A38 overpass in Moorswater at 10:30am, you will though still need good clothing and footwear.
